At Intelligent Design, the home theater space had multiple architectural elements to navigate: door jambs, electrical outlets, in-wall equipment, and custom trim. These complexities made it impractical to use standard-sized acoustic panels.

Instead, Commercial Acoustics recommended a track-based fabric wall system. This approach allowed for custom fitting around penetrations and seamless transitions across surfaces. The end result? Acoustic treatment that looks like part of the architecture—not an afterthought.

A stretched fabric wall system consists of three key components: perimeter track, fiberglass core, and acoustically transparent fabric. First, the edge track is installed around the room’s perimeter, with center track spaced between—usually every few feet—depending on the width of the fabric roll.

Once the framework is in place, fiberglass acoustic core is inserted into each cavity. Finally, the fabric is stretched over the surface and tucked into the track, creating a clean and durable finish. This method ensures total wall coverage, eliminates panel seams, and enables access to equipment behind the wall when needed.

Finally, acoustically transparent fabric—FR701 in a sleek, dark tone—was stretched across the wall and carefully tucked into the tracks. This resulted in a modern, professional finish that’s not only functional but visually aligned with the rest of the smart private showroom.
