Acoustic Tools, Calculators & Reference Library
The same calculators and reference data we use on every commercial acoustic project — free, no signup, and built around real ASTM measurements.
Three Calculators We Open Every Week
Quick targets for STC, IIC, and reverberation. Plug in the assembly or room and you’ll know whether the design clears the bar before you commit to a spec.
Need a calculation we don’t have? We do custom acoustic modeling on consulting engagements — STC, IIC, NC, RT60, and exterior noise propagation.
Talk to a ConsultantFree Acoustic Calculators
Six purpose-built tools that take the guesswork out of common acoustic design questions. Each one outputs the same numbers we use on real projects.
STC Calculator
Sound Transmission Class targets for walls, doors, and partitions across building types.
Open toolIIC Calculator
Impact Insulation Class targets for floor-ceiling assemblies in residential and hospitality.
Open toolRoom Acoustics Calculator
RT60 reverberation modeling and absorption sizing for any room where speech matters.
Open toolSound Masking Calculator
Speaker count, density, and coverage for open-plan offices and healthcare environments.
Open toolACT Estimator
Acoustic Ceiling Tile quantity, NRC, and CAC estimator for drop-ceiling projects.
Open toolSTC Audio Comparison
Hear the audible difference between STC ratings side-by-side — STC 30 versus STC 60.
Open toolLab Tests, Wall Assemblies & Submittal-Ready Specs
The reference data you’d otherwise pay a consultant to dig up — STC and IIC lab tests, wall-assembly tables, full acoustic detail drawings, and product specifications ready for the spec book.
Built by Acousticians, Not Marketers
Most online acoustic calculators give you a single number with no source, no context, and no caveat. Ours run on the same logic our engineers use on real projects — and tell you when an answer needs human judgment.
-
Project-Grounded Inputs
The questions we ask are the same questions we’d ask on a kickoff call. No abstract physics — only inputs you can actually pull from drawings or a site walk.
-
ASTM-Aligned Logic
Outputs trace back to ASTM E90, E336, E492, E1007, and C423 — not invented constants. Reference data comes from independent lab reports.
-
Vendor-Neutral
Tools rank what works, including products we don’t sell. You get the answer for the room, not a sales funnel.

Every tool runs in the browser with no login wall. Bookmark them and use them on any project.
Questions Users Ask Most
How accurate are these calculators?
They produce design-grade estimates, not stamped reports. The outputs match what an acoustician would propose during schematic design. For code-compliance verification, you still need field measurement — see our field testing.
Can I use the outputs in a submittal or spec?
Yes — the calculators are starting points, but the lab tests, wall assemblies, and product specs in the Reference Library are submittal-ready.
Do you sell my data if I use these tools?
No. There’s no signup, no email gate, no analytics-pixel-on-results. Use them anonymously.
What’s the difference between this hub and the Guides hub?
The Guides hub teaches the concepts — what STC means, how to soundproof a wall. The Resources hub gives you the working tools and reference data once you already know what you’re doing.
Can Commercial Acoustics run a custom calculation for my project?
Yes. We do RT60, propagation, and assembly modeling on consulting engagements. Send us your project and we’ll scope the analysis.
Need More Than a Calculator?
If your project is past the calculator stage and into the do-it-once-right stage, we’ll model, specify, and verify the acoustic outcome on the room itself.
