Commercial Acoustics was contracted by Willis A. Smith Contracting as part of the renovation for USFSP Nelson Poynter Memorial Library. This included installing acoustical felt products along with specialty wood ceilings in the teleconference and production rooms. USFSP was looking for acoustical treatment that would not only fix the issue of high noise levels, but one that would elevate the space with a modern approach.
Benefits of Ceiling Baffles and Wall Panels
In the teleconference room, our team installed Zintra Sculpted Panels and Sliding Screens on the walls, along with Zintra Linear Baffles and Hexagonal Baffles on the ceilings. Since the structure and design of these products are aesthetically appealing, some individuals do not realize that they are a form of acoustical treatment.
The linear and hexagonal baffles are placed on the ceilings and absorb any disruptive sounds that are created within the room. The installation of these products in the teleconference room will improve the audio quality of meetings that may take place here and increases speech intelligibility.
Specialty Wood Ceilings for Acoustics
In the production room, Armstrong WoodWorks were installed on both the walls and ceilings. Specialty wood ceilings can provide a space with both style and function.
WoodWorks ceiling and wall panels can either be installed on their own or with a black acoustical backer. The black acoustical backer, with an NRC of 0.85, works to absorb echo and to hide anything you wouldn’t otherwise want being seen behind the wooden slats.
