Tampa, FL – In a time during the COVID crisis when many small businesses are struggling to keep their doors open and their employees paid, some have found the opportunity to thrive in their niche.
Walker Peek, founder and CEO of Commercial Acoustics, has recently written and published a unique soundproofing handbook for use by Architects and General Contractors. It is designed to provide them with the tools they need to design and build acoustically comfortable and code-compliant spaces. Most of the principles in the handbook don’t require any cost increases; in fact, many of them will actually result in cost-savings if properly implemented.
With the hard copies of the book now available, Peek will begin his book tour; bringing complimentary copies to architects he had previously provided with Lunch and Learns.
The Handbook draws from almost a decade of experience in the field and is finally available for commercial purchase after nearly a year of writing, editing and publishing. After years of helping apartment renters with noise coming through their windows, Commercial Acoustics realized that the only way to truly fix the problem was to help architects and contractors better understand how to cost-effectively soundproofing units. “They seem to be making the same mistakes over and over. Whether it was mounting through resilient channels or spot treating with floor underlayments, there was a lot of money being spent on products and systems that weren’t improving the sound performance,” says Walker. Importantly, he has chosen to exclude detailed designs of large performing arts venues and concert halls; opting instead to focus on practical guidance for condos, apartments, hotels, churches and restaurants, amongst others.
