Commercial Acoustics was contracted by Johnson-Laux Construction to be part of the 3rd floor renovation process for Osceola County Courthouse located in Kissimmee, FL. The Osceola County Courthouse has been open since 1889, being a landmark full of history and innovations. Offering court services as well as financial, this impressive institution ensures that the public’s needs will be fulfilled. While analyzing the institution, it was decided that an acoustical installation was necessary in addition to the aesthetic changes.

Acoustic Ceiling Tile for Courthouses

Acoustic Ceiling Tile is a high-density product that tackles noise problems and improves speech intelligibility while reducing reverb time in any given space. It is suitable for courthouses and other spaces like offices and classrooms.

Our team installed approximately 1,400 square feet of acoustic ceiling tile throughout the Osceola County Courthouse. Tile types included USG Eclipse on 15/16″ Grid, along with 4’x4′ and 6″x4′ Optima PB on 9/16″ Grid. Axiom trim was used in the courtroom to create a cloud effect between the ACT and surrounding drywall ceiling.

Acoustic Panels for Sound Absorption

Acoustic panels are made of fiberglass and wrapped in fabric, serving as both a functional and aesthetic option. They limit echo in large-volume spaces which creates a more acoustically comfortable atmosphere. Our team installed 400 square feet of stretched fabric wall throughout the main courtroom, which allows for ultimate sound absorption. The selected fabric beautifully blends into the space, creating an “invisible” form of acoustic treatment. It also adds a sophisticated appeal to the room while reducing reverb time.
