Noise Ordinance Testing in New Orleans

New Orleans Acoustic Testing

For music and entertainment venues opening up in New Orleans, many owners are asking themselves “Am I disturbing my neighbors? Will they file a noise complaint?”

New Orleans is full of historic neighborhoods, and the culture of live music runs throughout.  These venues are typically in close proximity to residents.  Additionally, the building structures themselves tend to be historic and not in the necessary condition to attenuate sound.

Commercial Acoustics has combed through the New Orleans Noise Ordinance code, and knows exactly how to measure for compliance.

Using an SPL meter, the code requires testing L10 and Lmax decibel levels for no less than a 10-minute reading at a specified distance away from the property line.  The decibel levels required not to exceed are based on which ordinance district your venue falls under.
