New Salem Missionary Baptist Church came to Commercial Acoustics because they had poor acoustics in their worship area.
For years, the congregation enjoyed gathering in the space, but echo and reverberation continued to be an issue. The church initially tried to build and install their own acoustic panels, with limited success.
The church and pastor experienced quite a bit of sound reverberation when they used their PA system, which made it hard to understand any speech or music coming through the speakers. This was likely caused by the high ceilings, hard surfaces and parallel walls within the church.
In order to help New Salem improve the acoustics in their church, our team designed custom-sized acoustic panels that would wall-mount in the space and blend into the paint color. Each panel was 4’x8′ large and 2″ thick with wood framing. New Salem also requested artwork be printed on the acoustic panels to allow an aesthetic touch. The art-wrapped acoustic panels were used in the sanctuary and lobby as you entered the church.
Our team installed approximately 40 sound absorbing panels over a day and a half, resulting in significant echo reduction in the church.
