Luv Child Acoustic Ceiling Panels

Luv Child, in South Tampa, is a retrofit of the previous nightclub on the busy South Howard Street. During the renovation, new ownership recognized that the same noisy, reverberant space that worked for a nightclub was not suitable for a more intimate restaurant setting. The Ciccio group, for which Commercial Acoustics has provided acoustic treatments on half-a-dozen restaurants, reached out to our team to provide an acoustic assessment and treatment in the area. Rather than installing acoustic ceiling clouds in this type of space, we took a different route.

Acoustic Panel Installation

There was a previous fabric wall system installed along the ceiling in the space with 4 foot by 30 foot long runs. Our team uninstalled the existing track in fabric system, then installed new dense fiberglass with an NRC of 1.0.

We then reattached a new fabric wall system, and tucked in the fabric behind the track edges. Just like when typical wall mounted or ceiling mounted panels are wrapped, the fabric wall system uses acoustically transparent fabric.

Commercial Acoustics came in during the retrofit of the space and replaced the existing fabric wall system with a new one using dense fiber glass with a high NRC. This photo gives you an idea of how fabric wall systems allow you to make one large, seamless acoustic panel.

Benefits of Acoustic Fabric Ceiling

Unlike traditional acoustic panels which are limited in size to approximately 4 ft by 10 ft, the fabric track system can be extended indefinitely to the length of a roll of fabric, up to 50 yards without a seam. This provides a clean look on the ceiling which matched with the internal aesthetics of the space, while still providing a high-end acoustic solution to the end client.
