Anthem is a part of the newest office building in Tampa – SkyCetner One. SkyCenter contains around 30,000 square feet of office and collaboration spaces, and is located right across from the Tampa Airport. Commercial Acoustics was contracted to install stretched fabric wall throughout Anthem’s office space within the building. Acoustic fabric wall was designed into the space by the architect, and was installed in multiple conference rooms.
Acoustic Requirements for Conference Rooms
Conference rooms have unique acoustic requirements depending on how they’ll be used. If the room with regularly be used for telecoms, then more acoustic treatment is needed as opposed to a conference room only being used for in-person meetings. The conference rooms at Anthem will end up being used for both in-person and virtual meetings, so they were treated with both fabric wall and felt baffles (by others).
This install was sequenced in two different mobilizations – one for the conference room walls and one for an operable partition that was to receive fabric wall.
The fabric wall at Anthem was constructed with 1″ thick fiberglass core and covered with acoustically transparent fabric. When used on a TV wall, a square space is left in the middle of the wall to allow for the TV mount to be directly attached to the drywall. This space is always hidden by the TV once it’s mounted
Benefits of Stretched Fabric Wall in Meeting Rooms
With the stretched fabric wall installed, in-person meetings and teleconferences can be held in an acoustically comfortable room. No matter how aesthetically pleasing a conference or board room is, acoustic treatment will almost always be needed due to the requirement for speech intelligibility. It’s not ideal to be the person on a telecom with poor acoustics, and no one can understand you.
